The BC Community Forest Association (BCCFA) congratulates Premier-designate Lorne Doerkson and the Conservative Party of BC following the 2026 provincial election.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and members, we look forward to working with the incoming government to strengthen community forestry, support rural jobs and economies, and create more opportunities for locally led forest management across B.C.

B.C.'s 62 operating community forests demonstrate what can be achieved when forest management decisions are made closer to home. Led by First Nations, local communities and partnerships between them, community forests support local jobs and businesses, provide fibre to local mills, invest in long-term forest stewardship and take practical action to reduce wildfire risk.

Community forestry offers a proven approach to supporting rural economies, strengthening forest resilience and keeping more benefits in local communities. The BCCFA looks forward to working with the new government to expand the community forest program and advance policies that recognize the distinct role of community forests and support their long-term viability.
